g.Windows clients will display “A duplicate phone exists on the network” when they find a pair of devices with an awesome network name. This error can be caused in several ways: Two Windows computers use the same general term. The Windows server on the network is configured with two different network names.

    g.

After starting a Microsoft computer window in locallynetwork you may receive one of the following error messages : “There is a duplicate name on the network” or “On. The version name exists on the network (system error 52). These errors prevent new computer windows from joining the circle. The device starts up, but operates in a single stand-alone mode (no connection).

Why Am I Having Problems With Duplicate Names On Windows

You can rename your computer by right-clicking the My Computer icon, choosing Properties, and then clicking a topic in the Computer Name tab. Click the Change button and enter a creation name for your computer. Restart your computer and the problem should go away.

Windows clients display the message “Duplicate name exists on the network” when two devices with the same network title are found. This error can be caused in several ways:

    • The two Windows computers continue to share a common name.
    • The LAN can be configured to use any type of Windows workgroup, and the name you choose for the workgroup is the same as the name of any other device connected to the network, such as your home broadband router.
    • The Windows server on the network part is configured with two different names.

The computer reporting bugs is usually not one of the specific devices.By the same repeated name. Microsoft Windows XP and later Windows Server Operating 2003 processes use the NetBIOS system and the Windows Internet Naming Service system to store a common database of network stars. Any or every netbios device affecting the network can report these errors. Think of it as monitoring the area when the devices detect a specific problem outside. Windows slippage messages do not completely indicate which nearby devices have the disputed term.

How To Fix Repeated Naming Errors

    1. If your entire network uses a Windows workgroup , note that the workgroup name is different from the name ( SSID ) of the routers or wireless hotspots . > is different.

    2. Find out which Windows devices currently have the same name. Check the name of each computer control on the panel.

    3. In Control Panel, change the name of each of the offending computers to a valid name that is not used by multiple other local computers. Name may be differenton behalf of the Windows workgroup. Then reboot your device.

    4. On a healthy device where the error message persists, update the computer’s WINS database directly to remove any long-forgotten name references.

    5. If you receive a System Error 52 warning, update the Windows Server Exact Configuration to use only one network name.

    6. Upgrade legacy Windows XP devices to a better version of Windows . Guilt

They are only found on networks with computers running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003.

Earlier I wrote an article about what can happen if you have two people with the same IP address on the same network: IP Conflict Resolution. But what if you have two computers with the same nickname on the network?

If you are using many more versions of Windows like Windows 10, Windows 8, or Windows 7, everything below works fine. Only with older versions of Windows such as Windows XP, Windows 2000, 1997, etc. that are based on NETBIOS and additionally on WINS, which they run in case of problems.

On On the second cover, you may see one message like this:

     Duplicate name on the network

At first, you might think the obvious answer is to just rename one of the computers, right? Well, you can also get this error even if no computer on the network has the same problem name!

This may be due to an old network card that is no longer on the system. Here are some ways to fix this problem before renaming computers.

    Method 1 – IPCONFIG

First, a simple IP-related release and update might fix your new problem. Go to Start, then Run and type CMD. When prompted, you will probably navigate to

    to select

     ipconfig / release
     ipconfig / update

If the error persists, try the following possible solutions.

The Second Way Is To Remove Hidden Network Adapters

Select Start, Run and enter DEVMGMT.MSC in the box. Now the device is in the manager, click on “Show” and select “Show hidden devices”.

Now scroll down to “Adapter Network” and delete anything thatusually displayed with transparent icons. If nothing is grayed out, then your crisis is not due to an adult adapter network.

    Method 3 – Rename Computer

If neither of these two methods work, you will probably just have to rename the computer. This can happen for two or three reasons:

    1. In fact, you have two computers on a new network with the same NETBIOS name.
    2. One of the computers has the exact name of your workgroup.

    duplicate name error message

You can start, sprint, type CMD and then type nbtstat -n at the command line and this will give you the specific conflicting workstation if any is under consideration.

Make sure you are viewing a normal network connection such as H. LAN or wireless.

    duplicate name error message

You can rename the computer type by right-clicking the My Computer icon on the desktop, searching for Properties, and selecting the Computer Name tab.

Click the “Edit” button and enter a new name to create the computer. Your computer has restarted, but there is a problem. It should also disappear. If you still have problems, leave this comment here and I’ll try to help! Have fun!

The nbtstat command is often a diagnostic tool for the aforementioned TCP / IP NetBIOS. Its basic design addresses NetBIOS name resolution problems. This is done through some NetBIOS name resolution options, as well as local cache lookup, WINS server negotiation, broadcast, LMHOSTS lookup, host lookup, and DNS server query.
