I just bought BI, uninstalled RTW and installed a fresh copy and then installed BI. Everything is clean, but when I try to start the game, I get the throw indicated in the title, full of clues as to what is believed to have happened?

Assuming you are using Windows XP, please note the following:

How to troubleshoot software problems:

Note. Besurprisingly careful when done right. This forces you to deal with a weak tooling system.

Firstly, uninstall Rome: Total War using add / remove utility or game uninstall class. If you are unable to uninstall the game or are encountering uninstallation errors, skip this step to use an alternative method (shown below).

Then you need our own directory for Total. completely erase Rome: war. This can probably (until you choose the owner of the directory) under: Primary Hard Drive -> Program Files -> Activision. Delete the Rome: for Total War folder.

Finally, you must delete the corresponding computer entry. Usually we go to the “Start” menu and open “Run”. Enter “regedit” and click “OK”.

When most people have installed the game for almost all users:
-Go to HKEY_Local_Machine, open it.
-Go to the SOFTWARE and open
-Scroll down to the list of The Creative Assembly and Total War. Remove both with them.

If you installed the game with a user account: (You must howlty into this user account)
– Go with HKEY_CURRENT_USER, it will open.
– Go to the SOFTWARE and see it.
– Scroll (possibly) much longer to list The Creative Assembly, let alone Total War. Delete both.

After completing these steps, reinstall Total Rome: War. This should fix most software problems, as it will erase the secure digital signage from your computer that has already been installed in someone else’s game.

We’re all in the gutter, but some of you are staring at the stars.

Mr. Pickles, have you solved your problem? Even if not, please post what you did and your accomplishments .

This error usually occurs when someone modifies the game related to a bug. If you change, check descr_model_battle.txt descr_mount to make sure your entries are correct. Unless you actually change, and it really is a clean install, you may REALLY not uninstall everything. You can try the following:

1. Make sure your BIOS meets the criteria, PnP is enabled, only one master sound card is enabled, no overclocking, conservative sites enabled (eg standard).
2. Never pay attention to device conflicts in – Settings Control Panel – System – Hardware – Device Manager. Also make sure Sound is set correctly.
3. Use the latest stable motherboard, video and sound card drivers.
4. Remove wmp10, reinstall.
5. Uninstall and verify the removal of RTW (Howto here).
6. Install RTW.
