Here are some easy ways to troubleshoot Vista Service Pack 2 installation errors.

This issue occurs because your computer is missing system components that experts believe should be installed in Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2).
However, a common cause of this ad hoc issue is that vLite was designed to adapt to Windows Vista Ascension and required the removal of some system components.
If you have purchased a commercial copy of Windows You Vista, you can reinstall Vista from the Vista Project DVD.
Important! The following steps are highly recommended for computer users. If someone is just getting started, reinstalling Windows, asking a friend for help, or contacting Microsoft support might not be practical. For more information, see the “How to get the Windows Vista Plan Support Pack” section in this article. There are two ways to work around this problem:
Use Windows Vista Build DVD for In-Place Upgrade. An in-place upgrade preserves your personal data and environment as much as possible.
Warning Before performing an in-place upgrade with good results, be available in a worst-case scenario in which your existing data on your computer is erased. This sensitive information includes personal settings, data, information about the taxi driver’s equipment and software. In the worst case, you may have to reinstall all programs. Be sure to back up to disk or other external storage devices before performing an update On-site. Follow these steps to perform an in-place upgrade.
Note. It may be helpful to print these steps before performing them. Also note that the steps can take several hours.
If the installer does not necessarily start automatically, click Start type
drive: setup.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
Note. At this point, drive is the letter of your computer’s DVD drive.
Note. If you receive the “Get the updates you need to install” message, you are actually clicking “Online.”
If you have a preinstalled (OEM) copy of Windows from Vista on your computer and you receive an error message, you should contact the manufacturer if you need help restoring the original factory settings. Resetting your computer to its original manufacturing standards should also restore any method components required to customize the service pack.
You must re-enter all personalinformation before contacting the hardware manufacturer for assistance. Using OEM recovery media can sometimes result in data loss.

After a long Google search, I finally found a way to upgrade to Windows Vista sp2 ….
To do this, you need to replace the HEX values of the CSD version with the following keys from 300 to 100 in the registry:

Make sure you have at least service packs installed to receive updates before support ends. Click Start> right click Computer> left click Properties> see if you need to install Vista 32 bit or 64 bit. It will also tell you which SP you have installed.
Install SP2 manually from Microsoft Download Center , right-click “Computer” and select “Properties.” To install SP2 immediately, click Open or Run and follow the instructions on the TV screen. To install SP2 later, click Save to copy the installation file to your computer.
