Last week some of our users received a known error message regarding a time error on their HP PC. This problem can arise for several reasons. Let’s discuss it now.

Make sure your computer is connected to any network with an active Internet connection. Search Windows for Change Date and Time and open it. In the Time and Voice Truck window, make sure the correct time is selected in the Time Range section, and then enable the Automatically Set Accurate Time Zone option.

This basically fixes the issue where your computer displays invalid time on Windows, even after the client may have changed various time periods in the settings. Time correction is important for things like getting the latest version (which might be locked) and unique software that, due to the time correction, will not work. Of course, this article is always helpful to easily understand what time it is 😊

So, each is what you need to visit first. Is the time set correctly in Windows settings (right-click the timer in the lower corner of the desktop and select “Rethink Date / Time”).

You have a brand new computer that shows the wrong time every time you reboot. Most likely a few hours of rest. There is no CMOS battery (RTC battery) in newer laptop models, but this would not be a direct mistake. I have been available in this situation several times lately and the solution was to update the BIOS of the car. (Just in case, we recommend that you completely update Windows settings on the new PC and HP Support Assistant with any necessary restarts.)

To update the BIOS, you can open HP Support Assistant from the Start menu or by clicking the dark blue question mark icon in the system status bar

Here click on Updates, see if a BIOS or firmware update is available and install it. Update all other elements as you use it. May

You must also enter your model or possibly a product number (as you can identify it N) on the product search page (here) and in addition to navigating to the Software Drivers and Systems section. You can find the latest available BIOS in the list. Download and install.

You have created a dual boot situation on your Windows and Linux PC and the time is not accurate on Linux or Windows.

In some situations you need to either compile Linux with local time or Windows use UTC time to display recovery time

On 64-bit Windows create a QWORD, if on 32-bit Windows create a DWORD

Double click the new entry and enter the value 1

Incorrect time and date on every restart (CMOS battery versus RTC)

The CMOS battery should last for about 5 years or more, so if this is a brand new PC this is probably not a problem at all.

If the time and date is wrong every time I start my computer (maybe even the same date and time is wrong over and over again), it might be because you need to replace the CMOS, I would say, what’s the battery (RTC battery). Usually there will be some other problems, such as to boot failure, boot may no longer be used and you will be prompted to adjust the parameters and time (on every reboot if not connected to an external power source), but all BIOS settings will be reset to factory defaults every time with a number of problems, which can occur anywhere.

Replacing the CMOS battery in desktop computers is usually fairly straightforward. You will see a coin-cell battery on the motherboard (CR 2032 battery) that can be removed and replaced with any new battery for a few dollars or less. To open the desktop case, you can go to your model’s product page, and in the manuals, which are always available, you will find instructions on how to open the case to replace the hard drive or RAM.

Locate and replace the CMOS battery on the motherboard. Laptops

Many even use the same battery or have different battery shapes. Modern laptops that do not have a removable main battery may not have an RTC battery.

Replacing the battery in laptop computers is usually much more difficult…. It is sometimes accessible under an active service cover, but often you have to remove both the top and bottom cover of a laptop to finally access the battery inside the motherboard. A laptop service manual can usually be found on your current model’s product page under the Manuals section. Search the manual for RTC batteries and learn how to replace them.

This basically avoids the underlying problem that is causing the wrong time and also creates a task in Windows at startup in which the PC connects to a time server and converts the time / date on every restart. This works most of the time, but avoids the problem and if you have a bad battery, time and date won’t be the only problem. Will
