Recently, some of our users came across Linux check disk fat32 error message. Several factors can cause this problem. We will talk about this below.

      sudo apt-get install help dosfstools

You need to send the address of the device you really want to Dosfsck (for example / dev / sdb1 or / dev / sdb2, another device).

To set the address of your device, open this terminal (CTRL + ALT + T), then run this approach command:

      assembly

If your demo partition is / dev / sdb1, first unmount it by running the following command:

      sudo umount / dev / sdb1

Now you will definitely check and restore your partition by simply running this command:

      sudo dosfsck -t -this -w / dev / sdb1

If you get fanbase error message when USB stick is not recognized:

    Error

     : buffer I / O error on device sdb1
      dmesg | tail
      end_request: I / O error, dev sdb1, sector 0Buffer I / O error associated with sdb1 device, logic block 0
      sudo dosfsck -t -a course, / dev / sdb1

You can change the address of the device according to the needs of your family, as I wrote above.

Topic: How To Check (Possibly Repair) A Completely Fat32 USB Drive

    Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon 64-bit, Total 10 Commander.00, 64-bit

As Habitual said, GParted can also examine FAT32 file systems. GParted absolutely shouldn’t be preinstalled. Therefore, you must install it before using it permanently.
The graphics program that is almost certainly preinstalled is called “Discs” in the “Accessories” submenu. It should also be time to check FAT32 hard drives.

If our own command line is your friend, this thread from Askubuntu may offer you a solution: How to fix any type of corrupted FAT32 file system
Note. Though all threads mention NTFS filesystems like now: forget about restoring NTFS filesystems with Linux. You can consult them. But normally fsck will probably refuse to re Install NTFS when NTFS needs to be restored.

Anytime If you want to save data to hard drives, CDs, or USB drives, chances are high that something will happen on this device and you will lose data. Two problems can arise: your files can get confused – a broken index means that all parts of the video are so encrypted that they no longer make sense – media can have skin problems – blocks on discs don’t work well or CDs are scratched. There are tools for detecting and fixing errors. We could introduce you to these tools right away.

Errors can occur when transferring data stored on the storage medium. This can be caused, for example, by operational errors, severe system failures, or media manipulation. In this case, the files may be lost or questionable – you need to check the accuracy of your personal information.

The tools you choose for data validation depend on your file system, usually see the appropriate section.

Find Out What File System Is On The Disk

Gparted is an easy way to determine the type of filesystem on a disk. If you want to use the command line type:

     Separate sudo / dev / sda1

Where / dev / sda1 is the partition that the person wants to test / repair, and if so, type in the command line and

     pressure
     exit

    Poste3 Poste4

    Hard Drive

To run a filesystem consistency check on an ext2 partition, or possibly an ext3 partition, the drive must always be unmounted (running fsck on a wall drive is a very bad idea). In the case of a difficult ride, you will need strength to achieve the next starting mass popularity. To do this, create a final file called forcefsk at the root of a specific directory.

     sudo touch / forcefsck

    Removable Media

In the case of completely removable media such as a USB flash drive, disconnect the drive as soon as possible. To undo a deployment recently, right-click the icon on your desktop and even select Disable Eject. From fatal deletion usego to sudo / dev / yourdevice. To get the correct device, use this mount command to list all installed accessories. Then the terminal starts:

     sudo fsck / dev / sdb1

    FAT32 And FAT16

To check as well as repair the MS-DOS file system, we need to use the dosfsck tool. Please indicate that FAT is owned and produced by Microsoft, this tool is certainly not as powerful as Microsoft’s own tools (chkdsk for DOS, Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista and 8, Scandisk for Windows 95/98 / ME). Therefore, if you have a Windows computer, it is recommended that you perform this file system check.

If not, try dosfsck. This does not endanger the filesystem, but it can no longer catch certain errors like chkdsk / scandisk does.

To find out the names of all the sections you want to extract, enter the following into a terminal:

     sudo fdisk -l

No, we’ll be sure to check the command after yours (assuming the partition was still / dev / hda1):

     dosfsck -a -v / dev / hda1

     dosfsck man

    NTFS

There is still no chkdsk / scandisk equivalent that works with NTFS on Linux.

At this time, you will have to use Windows to check the NTFS partition.
