Indexer Performance Tuning
Press Windows Key + S and enter the list. Select the indexing options in the collage. You will now see a list of indexed locations. Click on the Modify button.Uncheck the locations that you do not need to be indexed and click OK to save your changes.
The main criteria that affect indexing efficiency are the number of indexed elements and the total size of the index. However, these factors are linked separately.
Problem with article.indexed
On a typical user’s computer, the indexer indexes fewer than 30,000 items. On a power user’s laptop, Indexer can time index 300,000 items. If the indexer searches more than 400,000 items, there may be performance issues. For more information, see Size Connected to Index Database.
The indexer can crawl up to 1 million items. If the indexer attempts to index far beyond this limit, it may fail and cause resource issues on the home PC (such as high CPU, memory, disk, or disk space usage).
To pCheck a set of indexed items, choose Settings > Search > Windows Search, then check indexed items by value.
Index database size
Because the number of indexed items often exceeds 400,000, the index database grows significantly regardless of the size of the items. The element size also affects the size of the database. A directory with several large files or many smaller files can affect performance. The combination of these two factors can certainly exacerbate the problem. The indexer is trying to shrink the data type of the index. However, this approach becomes less efficient as the repository index increases.
By default, the Windows.edb file is located in c:programdatamicrosoftsearchdataapplicationswindows. To check each of our file sizes, do the following:
-
Right-click the Windows.edb file and select Properties.
-
Check for the presence of the new size on the value disk. This condo reflects the actual disk space used by the Zoy data.
Adjustment methods
