At times, your computer may display an error code indicating that PowerPoint for the web has encountered an unexpected error. There are several reasons that can cause this problem.

    Symptoms

When trying to view a PowerPoint presentation or Word document found in Office The Online, the user receives an error message stating that the entire service is temporarily unavailable. Multiple tries with the same web processing give the same results.

    • The service was unavailable for some time.
    • Word Online cannot open this document being viewed due to an unexpected error. To view this document, open it in Microsoft Word.
    • An error has occurred in PowerPoint Online. Try again.

    Reason

Office Online relies on a SharePoint Shared Services infrastructure to transform an article into a browser-compatible view. If external computers cannot find shared services, or if relayed services cannot start on one or more computers, documents or presentations will fail.

Another possible cause of this type of error is a potential problem with the service account in which the web application is running, service Word Viewer and PowerPoint Service.

    Resolution

Solution 1: Check PowerPoint Service And Word View State

    1. powerpoint web app has encountered an unexpected error

Click Start Organization, select All Programs, Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products, and then select SharePoint 2010 Central Administration.

    2. On the SharePoint Administration main page, in the Application Management section, click Manage Service on Server. Make sure PowerPoint and the Word View service are running.

Solution 2: Make Sure The PowerPoint Service And Word Display Service Are Not Listed In The Instance

If specified later, use a different resolution throughout the list. Service software applications and proxies can be created using Windows Admin Center or PowerShell.

To create service applications, the service application uses Central Administration to create proxies:

    1. Click Start, select All Microsoft Programs, select SharePoint 2010 Products, and then select SharePoint 2010 Central Administration.

    2. On the SharePoint Central Administration home page, on the Application Management web page, click te Manage product and service applications.

    3. On the Application Services page, click New and then Word Viewer.

    4. In the Word Viewer Service Discussion box, for Name, enter Word Viewer Service. In the application pool, select Use an existing application pool and select Standard SharePoint Web Services in the combo box. In the Add to default proxy list section, make sure the Add this service provider application to the proxy (default) check box is selected, and then click OK.

NOTE. You can create a new request number for use with the helper application. When creating a new app for sharing, you can specify the trustee account used by the pool manager as the predefined network service account or the last managed account. The account must have read / write permissions for the SPContent data and the spconfig database.

    5. On the Service Applications page, click New and select PowerPoint Service Application.

    6. In the PowerPoint Service Application dialog box, enter the official name PowerPoint Service Application. In the application pool, select Use an existing application pool, and then select Standard SharePoint Web Services in the combo box. In the Add Default Proxy List box, make sure the default proxy list is specified for the service application to add a proxy server (default), and then click OK.

NOTE. You can create a new application pool for use with a completely new service application. The account can have read and write permissions on the SPContent and spconfig database.

To create utility applications and utility software proxies using Windows PowerShell1, run a new text file in Notepad and then copy and paste intofile our own following script:

$ appPool equals Get-SPServiceApplicationPool -Name "SharePoint Web Services Default".New-SPWordViewingServiceApplication -Name "WdView" -ApplicationPool $ appPool | New-SPWordViewingServiceApplicationProxy -Name "WdProxy"New-SPPowerPointServiceApplication -Name "PPT" -ApplicationPool $ appPool | New-SPPowerPointServiceApplicationProxy - name "PPTProxy"New-SPExcelServiceApplication -Name "Excel" -ApplicationPool $ appPool
    7. Save the house with the a.ps1 file extension in the folder where you run the software (usually C: scripts).

    8. At the Windows Powershell command prompt (i.e. PS C:>), type the following command and press ENTER:

        C: .ps1

Solution 3: Check Service Account Permissions

The App Fetch Service and retrieves content and therefore settings from the SharePoint content databases and the configuration database. To find development documents for service applications, service applications must have the appropriate permissions for both databases. For more information on the recommended permissions, see the TechNet topic “Account Permissions and Monitoring Settings (SharePoint Server 2010)” here:

Solution 4: Check Your Account Farms

In a server farm configuration, we recommend that you manage the server farm account under a different account for specific pools of Web, PowerPoint, and Word display applications. To check some of them through central administration:

    1. Click Start, select All Programs, Microsoft SharePoint Products for the coming year, and then go to the SharePoint 2010 Central Administration.

    2. Set up click plan accounts on the SharePoint Central Administration page under Security.

    3. Make sure they are running under a different account. If they are broadly the same as the server farm, replace the account with a different service account or create a new provider account in your domain to run these services.

    4. To create a different or possibly a new service account, the following link contains detailed instructions:

Note. You do not need to have an additional farm account. Service accounts are managed by different accountsthis. This provided solution is a very possible troubleshooting method.
