Where can I get the Synaptics driver for my touchpad?

The Synaptics driver can be installed with the xf86-input-synaptics package. The main method for setting up touchpad access is to use an Xorg server configuration file.

twm works fine with a working touchpad, but /var/log/Xorg.0.log suggests errors:
