If you notice the SQL Server 2008 maintenance cleanup task, the following guide should help.
The maintenance cleanup task removes files associated with maintenance plans, including database backup schemas and reports generated by maintenance policies. For more information, see Maintenance Plans and Backing Up and Restoring SQL Server Databases.

A maintenance cleanup task removes files that help you with maintenance plans, databases, including backup files, and reports generated by a maintenance plan. For more information, see Maintenance plans and SQL backup and restore from back-end databases.
Using the maintenance cleanup task, the package removes the backup filesor reports on service targets on the specified server. A maintenance cleanup task involves deciding to delete a specific file or group of files in a folder. Optionally, you can specify the appropriate extension of the files to be deleted.
When you configure a cleanup service task to delete backup files, the specific file name is .bak by default. For report files, the default filename extension is .txt. You can customize extensions according to your rights; The only restriction is that extensions cannot exceed 256 characters.
You generally want to remove old files that are no longer needed, and maintenance cleanup can be configured to remove file types that have reached a certain age. For example, a task can always be configured to delete files older than four weeks. You must specify the age of the programs to be removed in days, weeks, several days, or years. If you do not specify only the minimum age of files to be deleted, all files normally specified will be deleted.Type.
Unlike previous versions of the cleanup maintenance task, the SQL Server task version does not automatically delete files in subdirectories of the specified directory. This limitation generally reduces the attack surface for any attack. This exploit can lead to malicious deletion of data by functions of all cleanup after maintenance tasks. To remove top-level subfolders, your company must explicitly subscribe to them by enabling the Include Top-Level Subfolders option in the Maintenance Cleanup Task dialog box.

On the server, open the Run dialog box, type services.msc andpress enter.

Search for SQL Server Service Agent in the list and double-click it.
