Are you stuck with winsock error? If so, then you have come to the right place and I would like to explain to you.
Winsock is an abbreviation for Windows Socket and is an application programming interface, or API, that developers use to create applications that interact with other computer systems over TCP / IP. Windows 95 and Windows NT ship with the DLL file winsock.dll. This file acts as an intermediary between the application and the Internet Protocol.
The winsock.dll file is available in different versions. On the one hand, you have the Microsoft version, and on the other hand, you have several shareware and shareware versions. The Winsock API has no official standard. Therefore, each version may differ slightly from the other.
What Is Winsock
As I said, this is software interface face. Windows 10 includes a DLL named winsock.dll that implements the API and coordinates Windows programs and TCP / IP connections. The settings contain the configuration of the computer for connecting to the Internet.
WinsockFix – Restore / Reset Winsock And TCP / IP On XP
WinsockFix is a great utility for resetting and restoring Winsock. This is probably the best and fastest solution to all connection problems, but I would not use it on Windows 7. How can I trust an application that my system cannot recognize that says I am using 32-bit windows? WinsockFix was written for Windows 95, ME, XP, 2000, so I wouldn’t use it under Vista on Windows 7, but if you are still running Windows XP, I would recommend this tool.
Fix Winsock Manually Using The Command Line
Step 1 Open the command line tool cmd.exe (hold Windows R keys, type cmd.exe, press Enter) and type:
- Netsh Winsock Reset Catalog (resets Winsock entries)
- netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (TCP / IP stack reset)
Step 2 Restart your computer.
Step 3 The connection should now be reset and the connection problems may be goneoh, but not all problems will be solved. For example, sometimes your network driver gets damaged and you need to download new drivers from realtek.com.tw.
Fix Winsock In Batches
I wrote a small package that executes commands for you. This can be useful when you forget about orders and can no longer go online to search for them.
- Download WinsockFix.bat for Windows 7
Download this file, right-click winsockfix.bat and select “Run as administrator”.
Why Do You Need A Winsock Patch?
Winsock is the interface you need to communicate with the outside world over TCP / IP. Thus, it is an important component of the Windows operating system. This simple solution resets your Ethernet adapters and fixes many common problems.
