I have done the following – several times already:
1. Click “Start” and select “Run”.
In the Run box, enter CMD and click OK.
At the command line, enter REGSVR32 JSCRIPT.DLL and press ENTER.
When the confirmation message is displayed, enter REGSVR32 VBSCRIPT.DLL and press ENTER.
Close Command Prompt
2. Run the McAfee MCPR.exe uninstaller and restart your computer.
Run the Mcpreinstall tool from here: McPreInstall.exe and try reinstalling the products.
I am completely lost. I am using Vista 64bit.
Method 1: Endpoint Security Conflict (if Any)
If you get the “Unable to access VBScript runtime for custom actions” error when trying to install ShoreTel Communication, it is very likely that the installer is conflicting with the Endpoint solution. Security by McAfee.
If this scenario applies to you, you have two different options for solving the problem:
- Remove the conflicting Endpoint Security software.
- Some registry values associated with McAfee ScriptScan will be reset to their default values to resolve the conflict.
If you’re looking for the simplest solution, consider uninstalling the Endpoint Security Tool. It’s not ideal, but it allows you to install ShoreTel Communication without modifying the registry. In this case, follow sub-guide A.
If you are familiar with the Registry Editor, you need to follow the attached B tutorial tomodify some key McAffee ScriptScan registry values to resolve the conflict.
