If your computer isn’t performing as well as it used to, and you’re not sure why, you can update your computer without deleting your personal files or changing settings.

Note. If you upgraded your Windows 8 computer to Windows 8.1 and your computer has a Windows 8 recovery partition, updating your computer will restore Windows 8. After the upgrade completes, you will need to upgrade to Windows 8.1.

Attention! Apps that you installed from websites and DVDs will be removed. Apps that came with your computer and apps that you installed from the Microsoft Store will be reinstalled. Windows will put a list of uninstalled applications on your desktop after you update your PC.
