System Errors Need To Fix 53 Windows XP Problems

It appears that some of our readers have encountered a known error code with Windows XP System Error 53. Several factors can cause this problem. Let’s discuss it now. When a user tries to connect to a network share using the Map Network Drive option or the DOS net use command, the system returns error code 53 (network path not found). This issue occurs when name resolution from DNS to NetBIOS has not been performed.

Reason

This issue can occur if File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks is disabled or not installed.

How To Fix System Error 53

Solution 1: Disable The Firewall Using Group Policy

To solve this problem, you can create a firewall exception locally, using Group Policy, locally, or using Group Policy.

  1. To manage your firewall using Group Policy (or Local Policy), go to the Computer page under Configuration Administrative Templates ons Network Network Connections Windows Firewall Profile [domain, standard] “.
  2. Use a domain key for computers that are part of a domain.
  3. Use a local key for stand-alone systems.
  4. For laptops on a network rather than a network, change both options.
  5. To disable the firewall, set the “Protect all network connections” policy setting to “Disabled”.

Solution 2: Make Sure File And Printer Sharing Is Turned On For Microsoft Networks

  1. Click Start and then Computer.
  2. In a computer window, open the folder that contains the folder you want to share.
  3. Right-click the folder you want to share and choose Share. A file sharing window will open ami.
  4. If you are allowed to share with a password, select the users who can access the shared folder and the permission level in the File Sharing window. To allow all users, select Everyone from the list of users. The default permission level for the selected user is Reader. Users cannot edit files in the shared folder or create new files. Select Shareholder as the access level so that the user can edit files or folders or create new files or folders. Figure 5 shows an example of user configuration and privilege levels in the file sharing window.
  5. If password sharing is turned off, select Guest or All Accounts in the File Sharing window. This is the same as file sharing in Windows XP.
  6. When finished, click Share and then Done.

To access a shared folder from a Windows Vista-based computer:

  1. Click Start, then click Network. The network window displays a list of workgroup computers on the computer. An example is shown in Figure 10.
  2. Double-click the name of the computer that contains the shared folder you want to access.
  3. Double-click the shared folder you want to access.

Solution 3: Check If NetBIOS Protocol Is Enabled


How to enable NetBIOS over TCP / IP on Windows:

  1. Click Start, then click Network. (Or type ncpa.cpl in the search box and press ENTER.)
  2. Click Network and Sharing Center and then Manage Network Connections.
  3. Right-click on the local connection or the connection you are using and select Properties.
  4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4).
  5. On the General tab, click the Advanced button.
  6. Click the PROFIT tab.

Solution 4: Verify That Ping Can Be Performed Using The CMD Prompt

Make sure that you can verify communication with the command using a CMD request (for physical IP address or NetBIOS name) and that the remote host is responding without significant packet loss. If the remote computer is not responding, if its hostname is blocked, but it is blocked by its IP address, check the DNS properties of the remote computer. Keep this in mind because many of the features in our products use name resolution when trying to access remote hosts.

Solution 5: Check Your Network In Safe Mode

If all of the above methods do not work, the network should be tested in safe mode. At this point, the computer will enter Safe Mode to determine if the application is causing the problem.

  1. From the Start menu, press Shift and simultaneously click Restart to open WinRE.
  2. Under Troubleshoot, select the appropriate option and then select Advanced Options.
  3. In advanced settings, select the “Enable Safe Mode with Networking” option and wait for the computer to start.
  4. In this mode, check for the error “System error 53 has occurred.”
