    • The original Wii model (RVL-001) is also compatible with games developed for the GameCube. This model is identified by a series of GameCube controller ports on the top or left, depending on its location.
  • Game discs are region coded. If the game CD you are using is for a region other than your Wii, the CD will not play on your console.
  • What To Do?

    1. Remove the problem disk if it is still on the system.
    2. Shut down the system and make sure it is installed correctly.
    3. Turn on Wii after 30 seconds.
    4. Insert a disc. Make sure you stick it correctly.

What If One Disc Is Not Read?

If the disc does not play properly, check it first. A disk defect can prevent the console from reading it. Bring the bottom of the disc up to a light to see any scratches or scrapes.

If a smudge is the culprit, cleaning the disk will often fix the problem. Use a microfiber cloth, the same as for cleaning glasses. Or use a lotion-free tissue. Rub the coated surface gently. When using a tissue, first use your breath to suffocate.

If the disc looks blank, insert it into the console. If that doesn’t work, find a brighter light and look again. Small scratches and stains are hard to find.

unable to read disk error on wii

A scratch on the record is no longer a problem. If the CD is a game you just bought, return it to where you bought it and replace it with another. If not, clean the scratch to repair the scratched CD . Use a home remedy such as toothpaste, furniture polish, or petroleum jelly to fix scratches. There are also CD repair kits that have a device that will remove scratches for you.

Some older Wii consoles have problems with dual layer discs that provide additional information. Games that use dual layer discs include Xenoblade Chronicles and Metroid Prime Trilogy. If your Wii is having trouble reading a dual layer disc, use a lens cleaning kit to clean the console’s lenses.

If you cleaned the disk game console, but the disc still won’t play, it might be defective.

    Solution 1: Clean The Disk

In the first step of troubleshooting, we will clean up the disk to get it working. Make sure you have a clean cloth before starting.

    1. Spray the cleaning solution onto the optical side of the hard drive. wp-content / uploads / 2019/11 / clean-stuff-500×500.jpg “>

    3. Wait for the disc to dry and insert it into the console.
    4. Check if the problem persists.

    Solution 2: Clean The Lens

We have to be creative in this part of the process and find the solution ourselves. Nintendo sold the lens cleaning solution in the form of a cleaning disc. When it was rotated in the disc player, the lens was automatically cleared. Unfortunately, they no longer make decisions, and we must make it ourselves.

    1. Nintendo suggested the following hard drive as a cleaning solution.

    2. Take an old plate and place some very soft tissue on opposite sides of the backrest.
    3. Glue the ends of the fabric to the hard drive.
    4. Also take a strong but thin rope and glue it to the end of the hard drive.
    5. Make sure the tape does not cover the fabric and remains relatively thin.
    6. Insert the disc into the console and let it spin.
    7. This will automatically clean the laser lens.
    8. Check if the problem persists.

    Solution 3: Replace Lens

It is also possible that the lens has been damaged and cannot be repaired. Therefore, it is advised to look for replacements online as there are many companies that sell these parts and you can get them relatively cheaply. This can be easily changed later, and a lens replacement guide is included in the box.

    • Dirty Disc: In most cases, this problem is caused by the dirty disc being unable to read the laser lens. Laser lens reads datafrom a disk using an optical laser. If there is dirt on the disc, the laser may not be able to read the disc correctly and an error may appear. This issue can also cause a number of other error codes on Wii.
    • Dirty laser lens: In some cases it can be the other way around and the laser lens can be the cause of the malfunction. The laser lens can also become dirty over time, interfering with proper scanning and reading of discs.
    • Defective laser lens: An error can also occur if the console’s laser lens has been irreversibly damaged. A damaged lens cannot be repaired by conventional means and must be replaced. Over time, overuse can damage the lens. This is a common problem with Wii.
