SYMPTOMS
When trying to connect to a remote FTP site, status code 530 is displayed, resulting in an error message that resembles one of the following examples:
530 Not connected.
ERROR:> Not connected.
STATUS:> Connection closed.
530 Login authentication failed.
ERROR:> Not connected.
STATUS:> Connection closed.
530 Password rejected.
ERROR:> Not connected.
STATUS:> Connection closed.
This error is usually accompanied by repeated requests for the username and password of the FTP account.
PERMISSION
Error 530 is not caused by CuteFTP. Error code 530 and repeated requests for username and password come directly from the remote FTP server. The remote FTP server rejects the submitted request. combination of username and password.
The remote FTP server indicates that one or more of the following three pieces of information are incorrect:
- Host address
Check all three. Your FTP account information may not be available to access other areas of your domain or web hosting account. The host address or your address may have changed as well. For some reason, the password was reset.
GlobalSCAPE, Inc. does not provide FTP accounts and does not have access to your FTP server login information. Contact your FTP server administrator for the information you need to connect to their server.
If you recently changed your login information, including host, username (email) or password, you will need to change your site in Site Manager.
- If the remote FTP site is for your own domain or website, contact your web host for assistance. Most hosting companies have instructions for FTP access or technicalsome kind of support on their websites. You can even have direct access to your FTP account information through the control panel of your web hosting account.
If you have corrected the credentials for the FTP account, you can change the credentials that are stored in CuteFTP Site Manager for that particular site. To make changes, first open the Site Manager (press F4), then in CuteFTP Home, click once on the site name and make the necessary changes on the right side of the screen. If you are using CuteFTP Pro, right click on the site name, select Properties and make the necessary changes before making changes.

This behavior is intentional. Configuring an FTP site for anonymous access and isolation of Active Directory users is not supported.
How To Fix This Error By Changing The FTP Authorization Rules!
- Log in to the VPS as an administrator using a remote desktop connection. See Connecting Windows VPS to RDP for more information.
- Open IIS [Administrative Start – Internet Information Service].
- Expand the Sites option in the left pane.
- A standard FTP site appears in the site list. Develop this site.
- Now double click the FTP Authorization Rules optionin the central area.
- Click “Add Authorization Rule” in the right pane.
- Select the All Users option and select the Read / Write permission check box.
- Click OK to save your changes and restart Microsoft FTP Services to reflect them.
