Thanks for your reply,

I downloaded USBSTOR.pnf, copied it to Notepad and saved it in a new folder on C / I386 where the other USBSTOR files are located.

1. No error code

2. I did this three times, twice before and once after receiving your reply.

I clickI got your link, followed the specified steps and updated it. Restart your computer. The material has not yet been recognized.

I suspect something is wrong with the USBSTOR files. After installing the missing USBSTOR.pnf file, USB recognized and installed the printer. After switching to a shorter cable (works – tested on other hardware), the device no longer works recognized (not recognized even with original longer cable)

Edit: I compared the USB files (I386) from my Dell PC and my Dell laptop (both XP Home SP3). Both have the same files except for USBSTOR.pnf, which I added to my computer. All USB devices work fine on the laptop.
