Send Email Directly Via TFS
My SMTP mail server requires email to be routed with TLS encryption up to Dock 587. This makes direct email delivery difficult for Foundation Team Server (TFS). To work around this inconvenience, I installed the Windows 2010 SMTP Server Service and configured it to forward to my real Surface Mail SMTP Server.

- Install SMTP server.
- Configure the SMTP service to start automatically
- Configure the SMTP service to only route to an alternate SMTP server.
- Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager (IIS 7.0)
- Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager

Start by launching Server Manager and addingSet the SMTP server function.
Click Add Prerequisites, and when the dialog box closes, click Next and then> Install.
ServerManagerCmd - install SMTP server
Configure Basic SMTP Service To Start Automatically
Unfortunately, the ISP is not configured to start automatically and is not configured by default to force you to check for services, so you can change that:
To perform the same action from this command line, use the following PowerShell commands:
Get-Service-SMTPSvc | Set-Service - Automatic Startup Type
Configuring SMTP Service For Routing To Alternate SMTP Servers
Finally, you need to configure your SMTP server to immediately switch to another SMTP hosting server (assuming it doesn’t send emails directly). This includes settings in IIS and also in IIS 7.0 and IIS 6. Open Internet Information Server 7 (iis.0) and select the host server
Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager (IIS 7.0)
- On the Internet, go to InformationServices (IIS) to our own server’s SMTP mail function and open it.
- In the SMTP mail windows, suggestions for the “Send From” personal email address, the DNS domain name (or address) of the remote SMTP server, and the reference server port of the remote computer. Also select Provide Credentials and provide the credentials required to connect to the remote SMTP server.
To do the same from the postman, use the command line shortly thereafter (Powershell is optional):
From some Windows Start menus, choose Start> Run and type CMD as the form to open. Select OK.At the download prompt, enter: telnet mail.mailenable.com 25.Also type the word QUIT and press Enter.

Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager
- Start IIS 6.0 Manager. Find the [SMTP Virtual Server #] node and open it, I would say, the Properties dialog box.
As said, I added a little over one hundred.0.0.1 so that I can basically relay the current state of the box through this SMTP server, but your organization can also add a group of computers connected by a subnet or an entire domain. > - Then go to Delivery Management and change the settings for most of the three buttons: Outbound Security …, Outbound Connections … and Advanced ….
- For outbound security, enable Basic authentication and, in addition to TLS encryption, enter the credentials of the remote SMTP server.
- On the Outbound Connections tab, change the TCP port to support yourself to 587 (or whatever port someone might need).
- Finally, on the Advanced Delivery tab, set the smart host as the DNS (or IP address) of the remote SMTP server.
Because the complete reputation of the domain This refers to the server that you usually configure, which literally configures the SMTP service.
Unfortunately, the command line was not available to me for this particular action. I found two hints as to where the command line formula might be:
- The first is the smtpsetup.exe tutorial (located in% windir% system32 inetsrv). This program transfers an INF file with configuration information.
- Second, the configuration information itself is probably stored in% windir% System32 Inetsvr Metabase.xml.
Even though I thought the last command line was already at hand, I had no information on how the password was encoded and stored in a file without doing anything. I decided to continue.
Command Line
When you summarize all command lines (except for getting the iis.0 6 config), make sure of the following:
ServerManagerCmd - install SMTP server$ SMTPService = Get-WmiObject win32_service -filter "name = 'SMTPSvc'"
$ smtpservice.ChangeStartMode ("Automatic")
Define the appcmd alias "$ env: windirSystem32inetsrvappcmd.exe"
Setting
Select the “Standard” account and select “Properties” from the menu. Select any tab “Server” and select “Outgoing E-mail”. This is the name of your SMTP server.

You can usually find the address of your SMTP mail server found in the accounts or settings section, which is usually associated with your mail client. When you send an email using the Gmail or AOL SMTP host, the SMTP server replies to your email, decides which server to send the message to, and forwards the message to that server.
