Close Notepad (or your favorite text editor) by clicking the special “X” button in the upper right corner of most windows.

Don’t close the Properties dialog explicitly! You have a new icon next to your system tray, but you can change it to something more attractive.

But don’t worry. Windows will automatically select the shell32.dll instruction in the % systemroot% system32 folder, which is composed of many characters, and you can choose. Select a symbol, usually by clicking on it in the Select Symbol From Next Index box and clicking this OK button.

Now click OK to close the Properties dialog box.

Initially, your icon may not change to display the new Desktop.exe icon on the taskbar. Restarting Explorer (or Windows), however, fixes this problem.
