    NOTE 2: Models SB5101 and SB5101NU, including EuroDOCSIS and International (i) variants, require the latest firmware to cost-effectively install and support the latest USB drivers. For full support for version 2, the USB driver .4.7.3 is a package, the following free (or newer) versions are required.

    Trying to get the latest drivers with old firmware versions SB5101 or sb5101nu may result in the following error: This device will not start. (Code 10).

    In this case, complete the USB installation with the previous version (v2.4.1.7) of the new Motorola USB package driver.

    To Check Your Model Number

    1. Minimize the benefits of a modem.
    2. Find a small white sticker on the underside of the modem. Exactly location and format will be adjusted depending on the model.

      NOTE. The model number will most likely start with SB or SBG for Motorola SURFboard modems (such as SB6120 or SBG900).

    3. Read the USB Modem Driver Table section of this document to download the appropriate drivers.

    Cable Modem USB Driver Matrix

    After determining the product model number, download the USB drivers and click the link corresponding to the product.

    When installing drivers, do not stop the boot process after it starts. Interrupting the process can lead to machine errors.

    WARNING. Normally install only the drivers that match the product model number. Otherwise, irreversible wear may occur.     Note. The firmware pre-installed on the device is used to make it work for you. A driver is software that is configured on the computer to communicate with the modem via USB.

    To Check Your Model Number

    1. Turn the computer over.
    2. Look for a small white label on the underside of that particular modem. The exact position and mark of the frame depends on the model.

      NOTE. Model selection starts with SB or SBG for Motorola SURFboard modems (such as SB6120 or SBG900).

    Cable Modem USB Driver Matrix

    Some Motorola Cable Surfboard modems and gateways require a personal computer (called a driver) to be installed when connecting a wired device using a USB cable. This documentation contains information on how to determine the numbermodel and download the corresponding USB drivers.

    NOTE 1. USB personnel are not required to connect the cable to the device using an Ethernet cable.

    NOTE 2. The drivers included in this document are compatible with Windows operating systems. These drivers are not compatible with major Macintosh or Linux systems.

    NOTE 2. For SB5101 and SB5101NU models, including EuroDOCSIS and International (i) variants, the latest firmware is required to successfully install and support the latest USB drivers. Full support for v2 will undoubtedly require the USB driver 4.7.3 from the package, the following (or newer) versions

    If this happens, including the installation via USB with Ex-version (v2.4.1.7) of the Motorola USB Package driver.
